School Meals

At William Murdoch Primary School, we provide healthy, balanced meals that support pupils’ wellbeing and readiness to learn. Our school meals meet national food standards and cater for a range of dietary needs.

Parents can decide whether their children are to have a school meal or bring a packed lunch. School meals are currently £2.30 per day (£11.50 per week) and must be paid for in advance via ParentPay .  Our meals are prepared in line with national school food standards and promote healthy, balanced eating.  If your child brings a packed lunch, we ask that it supports our healthy eating policy. Sweets, fizzy drinks and nut products are not permitted.  We promote positive behaviour during lunchtimes, encouraging pupils to develop good social skills and table manners.

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal through the Universal Infant Free School Meal offer. Families who meet certain criteria may be eligible for Free School Meals. We encourage all eligible families to apply, as this also enables the school to access additional funding.

If you think you may be entitled to Free School Meals please complete an online application form at  www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/birmingham/  .  The school will be notified of all children who qualify for Free School Meals. Even if you are not eligible at present, please complete the application online as you will be notified of your entitlement if your personal circumstances change.

We take food allergies and dietary requirements very seriously. Parents must inform the school of any allergies or special dietary needs so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
